OKLAHOMA CITY –Kimray, Inc. , Oklahoma-City based manufacturer of oil and gas equipment, was recently issued an OKStar Gold Level rating by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality . The company was recognized for demonstrating comprehensive action to reduce waste in all aspects of business through changing practices, processes or products and showing that the facility recycles solid waste.
From the moment a Kimray employee is hired, they are trained on environmental concerns and their responsibilities during an employee safety orientation and environmental training session. Employees who handle waste chemicals are provided additional training.
Kimray employs a number of recycling programs where scrap metal parts and liquids are recycled. For example, two large centrifuges are used for recycling oil and water machining coolants which results in thousands of gallons of recycled coolant per year. In addition, Kimray purchased and installed low emission VOC paint booths and uses low-emission VOC paint.
“We constantly look for new ways to reduce Kimray’s environmental footprint,” said David Hill, CEO of Kimray. “Reducing waste is something we take very seriously.”
Kimray has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Oklahoma in 2008 and 2009. They have also been named a Metro 50 winner for the past five years.
