You probably already know that Kimray Regulators are the industry standard for oil & gas pressure regulation. Now, Kimray has partnered with ControlAir to distribute two of their flagship high pressure regulators—the 1227 and 1230.
What do "First Cut Regulators" Do?
While Kimray high pressure control valves and regulators offer precise control of hundreds of pounds of pressure, often multiple pressure cuts are needed within a system before reaching the desired set pressure.
That’s where the ControlAir 1227 and 1230 come in. These are high pressure regulators that are ideal for taking large initial cuts of hundreds of pounds of pressure.
These regulators are essential for protecting downstream instrumentation and actuators. They reduce high inlet pressure to a more stable outlet pressure that can then be controlled more precisely with a Kimray controller.
1230 High Pressure Regulator

The ControlAir 1230 is designed for applications requiring high flow capacity. It’s also ideal for systems that experience large pressure drops.
- Inlet Pressure Capability: up to 1500 psi (depending on configuration)
- Output Range: 50-500 psi
- Connection Sizes: 1" or 2” NPT
- Orifice Sizes: Five (5) orifice sizes: 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"
1227 High Pressure Regulator

The ControlAir 1227 uses the same operating principle as the 1230, but in a smaller and lighter package for when space is limited or applications with moderate flow requirements.
- Inlet Pressure Capability: up to 2000 psi (depending on version)
- Output Ranges: 5-150 psi
- Connection Sizes: 3/4”, 1”, 2” NPT
- Orifice Sizes: Six (6) orifice sizes: 3/32", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"
Emissions-Free
Both ControlAir 1227 and 1230 regulators are emissions-free, making them ideal choices no matter what your emissions goals may be.
JT-Effect
One important thing to consider when any product is taking large pressure drops is the JT effect and potential freezing. Kimray also offers catalytic heaters to prevent freezing. For more information, watch our videos about valve freezing prevention.
